Designcorps + Design Studio work with Fox Marble to turn a sketch into reality and deliver a client’s dream kitchen island.

Inspired by flowing fountains bathed in gleaming sunlight, this kitchen island is a work or art. Designcorps and the homeowners brought Fox sketches and blueprints for their dream kitchen island, a functional island with the modern conveniences of a sink, built-in shelves, automated drawers and a seating area that would also be the artistic centerpiece of their kitchen.

Island sketch

Orientation of the island was important to capture the sunlight throughout the day from multiple skylights above to give the thick chiseled edge a sense of ever-changing movement and life.

Handcrafted four-inch laminated edges, chiseled and sealed for a seamless and natural appearance, complete the flowing fountain theme.

Design, Drawing and Construction, Through an Artist’s eye

When clients engaged Rorce Lo with the design/build firm of C&L Builders to renovate their Log Homes that has an entire 2 bedroom Condo in a San Francisco high rise they were amazed (as are we) to see their space transform into the original vision Rorce provided in the hand drawn and rendered drawing of the completed spaces. While many designers provide CAD illustrations of projects, rarely do we see hand drawn renderings. Rorce received his design and drawing background in Hong Kong while attending college for Interior Design during the early 80’s. Since moving to the US, Rorce has been working in the Design/Build industry in San Francisco for over 18 years just like other top local services available if you click here.

Rorce and partner, Paul Chow started C&L builder in 2004 and have been impressing clients with how their firm transform his hand drawn renderings into their new or remodeled spaces, if you want to remodel too, We’ll help to turn your home remodeling dreams into reality.

C&L Builders have been working with Fox Marble since 2000, get some other ideas on how to apply this in outdoors by checking this AZ pergola online catalog. Rorce states the reasons he prefers to work with Fox Marble over other fabricators are:

“Fox is very good at producing highly detailed stone work”

“There is good co-ordination and communication between Fox staff and his key personal on the job”

“Fox craftsmanship is consistent and surpasses any other fabricators he has used”

“The staff at Fox are long time employees where he can return and work with the same experienced personal time after time. Rorce also commented we have a staff of ‘good guys and gals’”.

Below find more examples of Rorce’s concepts transitioned from an idea to reality. The kitchen was originally intended to receive blue granite but was changed to Calacatta while all 3 bathrooms received Crema Marfil counters, showers and wall cladding. All the bathrooms use a classic revel detail at the walls to ensure their design will remain current for years to come with some help from services like this Movable Wall Repair Near Me.

In addition to the elegant marble surfaces used in the kitchen and bathrooms, cladding plays an important role in enhancing the overall design and functionality of the space. For example, cladding options like natural stone or wood can bring texture and warmth to any room, creating a balance between aesthetics and practicality. In some modern homes, architects and designers have turned to acp aluminium composite panel for cladding, as it offers both durability and a sleek, contemporary look. ACP panels are lightweight, easy to maintain, and highly resistant to weather conditions, making them ideal for both interior and exterior applications.

Whether used to complement a classic design or to introduce a more industrial or modern feel, ACP panels are a durable solution that enhances the aesthetic appeal of a space. With their exceptional performance, they are a valuable addition to any renovation or construction project, helping to ensure that the space remains stylish and functional for years to come.

Luxe Marketing Council tours Fox Marble as part of its “How it’s Made” Series The Countertop – Delivering an Uncommon Solution to a Common Need

The announcement read: In our continuation of the popular “How It’s Made” series, we take on the countertop—kitchen, bath and otherwise. To learn how it’s done correctly, we turn to the Bay Area’s acknowledged leader in the field, FOX MARBLE.

The head count was more than confirmed and it was standing room only yesterday when the Luxury Marketing Council (LMC) toured Fox Marble’s facilities. The program started with a welcome from Alf Nucifora, president of LMC to their members and an introduction to Bill Gamble sales, manager here at Fox, followed by a few words from our owner, Charley McLaughlin. Bill then reviewed the plan for the afternoon which included viewing a quick video from the Marble Institute of America, “From the Quarry to the Kitchen”, presented by Dave Johnson, our architectural rep. This allowed attending AIA and ASID members to receive educational units to apply to their yearly educational requirement. This video covered historical and modern quarrying techniques, templeting, fabricating and installation.

After the video and lunch the crowd broke into 3 groups, one touring the fabrication area lead by Bill Gamble, another viewing the many slabs of imported and domestic stone in our inventory, led by Jeremiah Smith, sales and project manager. While the third group viewed an on screen demonstration of our digital template and layout software, deftly handled by Janice Weickum, manager of templeting and digital layout. Each group rotated after 15 minutes so everyone had an opportunity to view all the major aspects of our fabrication process.

We then all gathered back in the meeting room for wrap up. Some had appointments to get to and had to go but many attendees stayed to ask several questions and to return to the slab inventory as there are so many beautiful natural stones to see: marble, onyx, limestone, granite, quartzite, travertine and exotic man made gemstone slabs.

The Fox staff thoroughly enjoyed hosting the Luxury Marketing Council’s tour of our facilities and judging from all the questions, the oooh’s & aaah’s and smiles the attendees did to. If you have a group of design professionals or trade personal and would like to educate and inform your staff, we welcome your inquiry.

Until then, we’re back to it, making your stone work look great. It’s a passion developed over decades spent working with natural stone. And it’s a passion we strive to pass on, so you can take pride in the stunning beauty and intricate details of your stonework.

Chateau St. Jean founder’s statue is restored to its former glory

Chateau St. Jean vineyards located in Sonoma, CA had removed their founders statue from a fountain at the winery years ago. This Terra Cotta ceramic sculpture was commissioned in 1980 by the artist Patricia Hopper of Fresno, CA.

During her relocation she was damaged, with several decorative pieces breaking off along with hands and fingers being severed when the basket broke off from the main body.

The joint where the upper body fit into the lower body also sustained damage to the decorative belt that was fashioned at this area. The maintenance staff placed her in a cradle and erected some bracing to protect her while they figured out how to repair her and where her new home at the winery would be.

When Jean was originally created she was made in several pieces to ease her transportation and erection. These joints at her waist and where her hand and basket were broke during her removal from the fountain. Fox reattached these parts to the main body and these attachments were reinforced with internal steel bars. After all the pieces and parts were reassembled Fox focused on recreating the few missing pieces, just like getting to the end of the puzzle to find the last piece is lost.

After recreating those last few pieces, Fox custom matched the color of the terra cotta tile with grout and filled cracks, joints and voids as needed. The winery returned to Fox with their truck and Jean was gingerly placed in the back and secured for her return home to wine country. The winery is now planning a event to celebrate Jean’s return to good health.

Fox Marble is constantly called on to repair or reproduce all kinds of stone and related items such as planters, fountains, table bases and a variety of unique and challenging projects. If we can assist with a project of yours, we welcome the opportunity.

Alderson Construction & Fox Marble craft a classic Master Bath

This magnificent master bath was engineered from the ground up using our digital measuring and rendering technology. From intricate flooring and base to the complex tub deck and vanities. Our team coordinated each step of the process with Alderson Construction. Our digital measuring team processed initial data on site to assure accurate dimensions and angles. A particular challenge on this project was the curved splash around the tub deck, this detail would be virtually impossible to achieve without our state of the art measuring system and fully integrated CNC waterjet cutters. A detailed flooring CAD rendering was created by our in house team of professionals to tie the mosaic design into the overall layout of the room. The clients were able to view the renderings of the floor and make any changes before fabrication. The final product ties all of the details together, creating a beautiful master bath.

A Collaboration Between Artist, Designer & Craftsmen

When contemplating design work in stone for our Bay Area clientele, the history of the successful partnership G2 Design has with the talented professionals at Fox Marble tells us to look no further. To execute our visions and the desires of our clients – whether simple, or complex – requires an honest love of craft and a true understanding of the material. The willingness and supreme talents of everyone at Fox Marble shines brightly upon everyone associated with our projects.

The inspiration for this project, the complete overhaul of a Master Bathroom in Mill Valley, under the guidance of Van Acker Construction, began with our client responding to the purity in the fine selection of Jerusalem Gold slabs in Fox’s inventory. We then collaborated with Pippa Murray Mosaics to create a unique floor using pieces of the same slabs installed architecturally.

This mosaic floor derives its sentiment from the inclinations of the client and G2 Design through Pippa’s craft. The Jerusalem Gold mixed with Breccia Pernice stones form gently wandering lines that subtly thicken, thin, double and disappear. The mosaic pieces, or tesserae, for this floor were hand cut using a mosaic hammer and hardie, then individually set using the reverse technique. The effect is lively and inviting and suits the room beautifully and is sympathetic to the existing architecture using swivel bolt to secure units.

The Jerusalem Gold in the mosaic is echoed in the carefully crafted stone surrounds & panels in the Bathroom.  We were all thrilled to work together with such an extraordinary team of Client, Artist and Contractors. We have had the opportunity to work alongside Fox Marble on many magnificent projects. Fox’s team is meticulous and professional always and they produce superb work.

G2 Design and Pippa Murray Mosaics are all dedicated to the design, fabrication and installation of exquisitely crafted custom architectural details for private homes and institutions.
